The video iPod and the DVD do have to be mutually exclusive items from each other any longer. There is a solution available that makes it possible to use the DVD in conjunction with the iPod; much like the CD and iTunes are used to store, and create playlists of music that can then be transferred to your iPod for your portable enjoyment.

This is now possible for DVD media as well. You can take a DVD and actually convert it on a computer for use on a video iPod. This allows the software user to have a stored copy of the selected DVD on a hard drive in case anything should happen to the hard copy.

The security of having a stored copy of any DVD you want on hard drive is a valuable bonus in itself, but the kicker is that you get to use your iPod to view them. A video iPod has enough capacity to store at least a few full length films, if not entire series. Trilogies can be kept together on your iPod for that really long flight, or time spent in a terminal waiting for that flight. The usefulness of a video iPod that can show converted DVD information is boundless.

Take the average DVD and the way it is used; imagine being able to take that experience anyplace you want and create an entirely new experience with the same material. Your experience with your iPod and a DVD combined can be much greater than the experience of either one of those things by themselves. Video iPod DVD conversion software not only eliminates any kind of code barrier for the video iPod, it also gives you a way to manage your DVD's once they are on the computer.

Once the DVD has been "ripped" to your computer, it is then converted to the video iPod format. The conversion process can have some options included in the process allowing for some customization of the media in question. All in all, conversion software provides more control over the way you can use your DVD's and iPod.

The conversion process for a DVD to video iPod was not available as a standard on the video iPod. You could only get your videos by purchasing them and downloading them online from the Apple Store online, because this was the only source for properly encoded video iPod movies. Your iPod is now free to be used with your DVD's as it was meant to be.
