As soon as the position is agreed on you will want to determined the elevation starting from the floor to set up your coat hooks. Typical mounting elevations are something like 40 inches for for little ones to use and roughly speaking 72 inches for adult use. The installed elevation is left to you depending on your wishes.

Locate the just about the center of the preferred position of your coat rack and measure from the flooring, if you are concerned about marking on the wall or are uncertain of the location place a bit of painters tape on the wall and mark on the painters tape. This prevents putting marks on the wall. Using a level, again you can use a bubble level place the level or laser on your mark and hold it level and mark the left and right ends of the position of the coat rack. If a bubble level or laser is not available you can take a piece of painters tape in the area the span of the coat rack and place it on the wall horizontally, stand back a short distance and carefully examine the painters tape does it look level? if not adjust until you have a nice level painters tape line.

Our goal is in site if your coat rack utilizes a through hole holding structure, locate your coat rack on the previously located level mark positioned on the painters tape. Take the installation screws place it in the installation hole and mark the wall, duplicate this for every installation hole. If your coat rack requires a key-hole installation method you will need to measure the distance relating to the key-holes and shift the dimensions to the painters tape. If you are mounting the coat rack with the trough hole installation procedure position the coat rack on the level line and drilled holes put in the installation screws and tighten evenly. If you are employing the key-hole installation procedure put in the screws run them in until the head of the screws extends out in the area 3/8 of an inch from the wall, put the coat rack over the screws and slide down.
