Vienna is a Year Round Destination

Vienna is the capital of Austria and also one of the nine States of Austria. It is Austrias primate city with a population of about 1.7 million and is by far the largest city in Austria as well as its cultural, economic and political centre. Vienna lies in the very east of Austria and is close to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. In 2001, the city centre was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the city ranks third in the world in terms of quality of life.

There is much to see from Gothic St Stephens Cathedral to the Imperial Palace to the Art Nouveau splendour of the Secession, from the magnificent baroque palace Schonbrunn to the Museum of Fine Arts to modern architecture at the Museums Quartier.

Art, culture, parks, pastries, cafes, romance and enjoyment, waltzes and wine that is Vienna, with its unique combination of tradition and modern times. A great cosmopolitan centre where various nationalities for centuries have been leaving their cultural identities.

The city that has played a key role in European history since ancient times when the Romans established a Celtic settlement on the Danube River as one of their most important European forts Vindobona. Vienna was the city around which Austria grew up and developed into a great empire, which became later a republic. The face of the city has changed many times and because of sieges, wars, victory and defeat, the death of the empire gave birth of a republic. Music, architecture, art, literature, theatre, education, shopping or just strolling, food and drinks are all part of Viennas temptation.

The attractive city is situated at the riverside of Danube River, at an elevation of 172 meters and has population of 1 610 000. There is always something happening in here, all the sight and numerous events carried out make Vienna a year round destination.

Classical music or clubbing, Klangbogen music festival, film festival at the Rathaus square, dance festival and open air cinemas, various operettas and exhibitions there is no chance someone to get bored in this city of life. Also fascinating strolls in Schani gardens in the cities centre, Heurigen inns with spectacular views of Vienna and sitting area next to the Alte Donau river and unforgettable nightlife all promise great entertainment.

Vienna is well known for Wiener schnitzel, a cutlet of veal that is pounded flat, coated in flour, egg and breadcrumbs, and fried in clarified butter.
