Have you learned to appreciate the dynamic of Urgency?

A while ago sitting down at a restaurant with a couple of my mentors and a few of our team members, I was perplexed about the true meaning of Urgency.

One of my mentors said something to the effect of the following:‘Come on guys, you must focus and get on with it. There are a lot of good things happening, and you want to make sure that you are in front of this wave.’

After hearing that, I believe I was confused and didn’t quite know how to digest this hint of urgency. I had and anxious feeling the essence of which was fear. Fear of not reaching the goal in time. Fear of being left behind. This feeling which I had thought was the feeling I was supposed to feel by this urgent clue, was static, similar to the busy noise caused from a technical glitch. Because of its nature which was fear, it lacked the type of onward movement that can be created by the dynamic of urgency.

On the other hand, I remember one of our team members expressing their interpretation of urgency quite differently. They seemed to ‘check out’ emotionally by expressing the emotion that comes from the dynamic of ‘indifference’, while at the same time checking out physiologically, which was accompanied by a slight shoulder shrug. Thinking back I realize that we both interpreted this sense of urgency incorrectly. My interpretation of process had secreted a little too much acid, while the other person’s digestion process lacked enough digestive enzymes. The way I had handled it had to do with impatience, and frustration which had brought emotional and mental stress up to the surface. The way our team member had handled it had to do with apathy, and indifference, which had caused emotional and mental resistance that had not showed up yet, and still was in existence hiding somewhere in the background. The actual underlying emotion in both caseswas fear and lack. Over the years of immersing myself in personal development, which has been an absolute privilege, I have come to understand that the dynamic of ‘urgency’ is in fact a powerful force that can assist in creating momentum. In essence, the force of urgency winks at us, it gives us hints, and sometimes a loving shove forward yet it is up to us to handle it in an effective manner. Here are a few points to help you understand the Art of Urgency.

-When you are on purpose, situations and circumstances may bring you a sense of urgency. It is meant to remind you to put your sneakers on and no longer spend time on which brand of sneakers you’ll wear or the perfect time to actually put them on.

-Once you are presented with circumstances that cause a sense of urgency, you will notice a sudden shift in yourfeelings. Notice and don’t allow yourself to go over the bridge to the zone of frustration or the zone of indifference. This shift in feeling is the beginning of intensity. Yet intensity can always be infused with ease. To begin with, take a long deep breath!

-Don’t fight situations that bring about a sense of urgency. The dynamic of urgency can indeed be your friend. It is meant to bring about a feeling of “Intensity”.

-Be aware of not falling into the ‘let me sit and wait for the universe to bring it to me while I do nothing, take no action, and give no valuable service’ syndrome. It has been my experience that many who are on a journey to self growth and realization, tend to shy away from feeling urgency and resist acting upon it. They may say “There is much abundance out there, and we don’t require to be urgent.” Understand they too are tapping into unconscious resistance, the root of which is still fear. Yes it’s true that there is infinite abundance within the universe, yet without giving service, and without taking action, the flood gates to abundance may not open. Urgency doesn’t have to mean competition, yet it does mean more focus and intensity. If the dynamic of urgency ishandled correctly, can indeed give us the type of intensity required to co-create our desires.

In summary the dynamic of Urgency is meant to create INTENSITY, the essence of which can be Ease. Therefore, when circumstance, people, or situations bring about a sense of urgency to you, simply take that as a hint, put on your sneakers, and start warming up with peace and joy.

Be Brave.Your friend along the way ,
