Speaking To God Is A Religious Experience

By: Jim Brown

Many people feel that in order to speak to God, they have to go to a church. The church is a symbol of God's home and people will go to church and visit with God just as they visit friends at their homes on a Saturday evening. Some of the things that they talk with God about are religious but for the most part the people want to speak with God and ask for advice.

The home is a good place to speak with God. People will usually stop everything they are doing and bow their head in prayer. When they speak to God in prayer they might talk about things that are truly bothering them, or they might think of things that they have done wrong and ask for forgiveness for the sins. When people use the Lord's name in vain, they are not speaking to God but are disrespecting His name and the laws that were written down for us to follow.

Speaking to other people about God is seen as a duty by some and during many of these speaking engagements they will use a Bible to reference some of the things God spoke many years ago. On many occasions, people find it a necessary part of their Faith to visit people at their homes and they do all of their religious speaking at the front door. Many times when we speak to God, we have the door to our heart shut because the problems in life have made the connection to God seem impossible.

People learn that speaking to God is a religious experience when they have a child in the hospital. Many people talk to God through prayer and request that their child recover from their illness. Some people call the answers that God provides them as miracles and when a child recovers from an illness many people will try to prove that it was an act of God and not just an answer to a prayer request.

While speaking to God requires faith in his existence, the conversations are never wasted because God is everywhere and is always listening. Sometimes God listens so well that he knows what will be asked before the person knows what will be asked. People form a closer relationship to God when they speak to him and many times the connection that is formed between the two will last a lifetime.

At the end of a person's life, someone else will speak to God on their behalf. They speak to God in front of family and friends and ask God to take the soul of the person into Heaven for safe keeping. The person might have talked with God and had the same conversation and because of these discussions with God, the person will be afforded with the opportunity to have everlasting life.
